How to Lead a Bible Lesson with Children

This idea came from Keleen Hayes.

If I had kids at home I would read them a Bible story, either from the Bible or from a Bible story book, depending on their ages, or tell them a story. They could retell the story in their own words as a review.

Then I would discuss it with them. Questions to ask could be:

  • What do we learn about God’s character?
  • What do we learn about humanity?
  • How will our lives change if we believe this passage (or story) enough to put it into practice?

These questions could be asked in a simpler way for small children. Then I would use an object lesson to run home a point. Pinterest has scads of object lessons (and crafts) using household items. Then I would pray with them and let them pray, and sing.
